Network (referral from a colleague) and being open to functions that are maybe not exactly what you want but help you get in the door.
Sorry I meant like job function. I wanted to do Strat Ops but had a good in as UX, so I pivoted
Here are some things I’ve observed:
1. The interview bar has gone up significantly. In the past I’d do well on 3/4 interviews and that would be enough to land me an offer. Now you need to be absolutely perfect across the board because the market is flooded with high caliber laid off candidates who can out prep you.
2. Only apply to roles that are a strong match for your profile or where you fit a certain niche skill set. This will allow you to be focused in your prep and not worry about competing against candidates you didn’t have a chance against to begin with.
Pure damn luck, frankly.
