God bless Americans - forgoing access to healthcare for their children so they can afford to launch missiles at other peoples children.
best answer.. sacrificing your healthcare today so you can finance others war tomorrow.. thank you for your attention to this comment.
Cobra, you continue your coverage but pay more. It can also be done retroactively for a period of time.
We went concierge medicine! Flat annual fee for whole family and we use Costco for prescriptions. Just tell them you don’t have insurance and want “member price” at the pharmacy. It averages out to maybe $2k more per year vs having the insurance through a company. No deductibles and unlimited office visits for the whole family included in the annual dues. It’s called Sollis here but there are concierge medicine places everywhere.
So what happens when you need urgent care or emergency care? Worse, emergency surgery or let alone surgery? How does concierge medicine handle specialist care? What if god forbid you get cancer, have a stroke, something horrible happens?
COBRA is only 18 months though? I would hope you could get another job by then but I worry about the same thing
Doesn’t always work out that way. I’ve been unemployed for over 18 months before and had to turn to the ACA. I have that same fear now.
Agree Cobra is a safe bet just super expensive. Exchange will depend on your state- you can check and see how much it would cost, it may not be as bad as others
I used an insurance broker. He was able to get rates better than ACA, BUT this year has been worse because of the BBB. I can provide his information if you would like.
I will let you know 🫶🏼
Best bet: if your spouse works and you can get on their company’s plan, no matter how mediocre. Your job loss is supposed to be an event that lets him/her change their benefits selections
Cobra is usually a better health plan and has continuity. On the other hand, the best reasons to go on ACA private plans over cobra are price (it’s almost always cheaper, and by a lot, even at full price) and the tax credits (when applicable). Maybe double check if you and/or your kids can go on Medicaid/chip, some states may be generous here
This is NOT the America I grew up in
(1956-). The past 35 years we became the ‘poster-child of all the s—-hole countries, with BBB kicking our last few teeth out.’
Where is Iran when we needed it most?

They’re’s always the military. 🤷
Or run for Congress—never laid-off and great benefits w zero deductibles!
