As a former Amexer who started as an analyst I would say it take 2-3 rounds as a manager/ sr manager to get to director but it’s not easy to be promoted and you have many people stuck at the sr manager level and even more at the VP level. I will say that getting promoted usually requires a lot of connections and mentors at the top.
Manager/senior manager tends to be used interchangeably but to give some context I was interviewing for Amex's SPG and got an offer to be a senior manager back in 2021. I was a 2nd year Associate at the time so figure 3 years is manager (it's an associate) and senior manager is an experienced associate.
Director typically would be a post MBA consultant with 2-3 years of experience or probably what an experienced VP is at a bank. You probably need around 7 years of experience. VP at Amex id say you need 10.
Idk about this. I see a lot of directors there that are on the older side.
