I’ve been with PwC almost for a year now in the valuations group and I don’t see myself doing this long term. 90% I’m helping Audit Teams understand valuations and 10% I’m doing PPAs. I always wanted to go into more a consulting role (ops/strategy role). I also like modeling, but the current modeling I’m doing is more accounting focused rather than finding business value from synergy creation. Ideally I’d like to stick with PwC but I’d switch too. Thoughts where I should apply too?

Been working in deal analytics for 3 years now having transferred over from FDD. Personally, I love it. I didn’t want to go into the accounting route/ didn’t like heavy accounting aspect of FDD so switched over to analytics and have loved it ever since. At Deloitte, we work unilaterally with FDD, clients will communicate primarily through FDD as we show a One Deloitte Team front vs individual groups but in terms of analytics retention work, they work with us directly.
Personally for me, I have enjoyed the analytical aspect and having to think about the drivers of a company’s business/ growth. Being able to critically think is also important in this role as FDD it’s pretty straight forward / accounting focused. Happy to chat further if any questions, feel free to DM.

Work along side but not in the group. Seems like experience is firm/team/office culture dependent. The work itself is high impact, clients are very focused on it relative to other diligence work streams and at least at EY there is good client exposure for the team itself vs others where the analytics team interacts primarily with the FDD teams rather than clients. Useful skill set, but more of an individual contributor career path once you leave vs standard FDD
