They have internal systems that keep track of the days you are in by accounting for your entrance and exit badge use in the building. Also, there’s a minimum of 4 hours stay for the system to count it as one day at the office
Thanks for the info! Lol
By any chance, do internal employees can see the salary ranges for new job postings?!
The whole team was required in office on the same day so pretty easy to tell if someone wasn’t there. They also said they monitored your card swipes.
Yes, they are strict. They check by badge swipes and report individual attendance metrics to senior management.
This right there ☝️
Badge swipes is the main way they track with rumours of them tracking connections to office wifi’s / VPNs as well. They are very strict. They are threatening bonuses and termination if you arnt compliant.
I’m nearly done / resigning at Wells Fargo as a Director. Truth is they have systems to monitor badge swipes (nowhere near as sophisticated as these guys at JPM - they’ve been doing this for years) but I tell my team not to end up on a report. If we have in person meeting - be there. If I ask or expect you on camera (I hate it too) - be there.
We’re educated adults making very good money to do a job that is relatively low stakes with seemingly ever decreasing expectations. Quit bitching or get a job as a call center employee
Our reports are run IP Address against badge swipes, 6 hours is considered a day in office unless you take at least 4 hours pto
Wells tracks with a combo of badge swipes and connectivity to the in-office network, as not all office locations have badge readers and it’s too easy for people to say there was some kind of issue with the badge reader.
They have been monitoring closely for about a year, but recently have deemed non-compliance as a fireable offense.
Same at BNY

Although, I like WFH for all the benefits...but sometimes it just another tool for these companies to beat folks up..
Even though some folks will not comply to the requirements.... cannot win ..
My work has mandatory in office days. Ours are T/Th but our managers can approve case by case bases for working from home on those days. We have a set amount of days per…not sure actually…that we can take to work from home on our in office days. After that we must have a makeup office day if we work from home on an office day.
My job was very strict. It went form two days to three days in office, no switching days, no exceptions. You had to be there the entire 8 hours of the day and it was heavily monitored and reported. My manager claimed she had no idea how they were tracking but the report showed a decimal for each individual like 2.98, 2.2, etc. I think they were monitoring being connected to the network.
I’m at Fidelity - everyone has to do 5 days a month and some groups or positions have to do more days. You have to swipe in to all the offices so they track badge swipes - we can see them now online
Badge swipes and hourly pinging your IP. Have to be in 3 days a week for a minimum of 4 hours or you will show up on a list. If you consistently show up on this list your EOY compensation will reflect it.
So like, can you connect your laptop to the desk and then go out for a run or something? Or take a nap in the car...
“Did I see you enough?” as a measuring tool
