For those who got into HSW, how explicit were you in stating your post MBA career interests? I’m an ex-consultant now at G, looking to pivot back into healthcare. (Continued in post.)

I think it’s somewhere in between your two examples. Be specific about the type of impact you wish to have, whether it’s transforming clinical care vs. pharmaceutical side vs. a healthcare tech start-up, etc.

And what’s super important is tying that specific impact to prior examples that show you can do it.

Got it - so in this case, outlining how X experience in consulting or Y project at Google taught me Z skill which will be critical for “being the lead strategist at a heath tech startup”, etc.?

How defined do I have to be in stating what I want to do in healthcare? As in, do I need to spell out “after HSW, I want to join a midsized consumer health startup focused on improving the patient experience in the rural US” or “after HSW, leading J&J’s ... would be my dream”?

Or, can it be more high-level “given my past focus on healthcare as a consultant and XYZ additional factors, I want to now return to the healthcare industry, etc...”

Let’s talk speed reading. I’m a slow reader and listened to a podcast recently on speed reading. I’m intrigued. Who here speed reads? How did you learn those skills, and what types of documents do you speed read in practice? I do mostly litigation and am thinking that speed reading would help with research but maybe not things like doc review where you need to review for both responsiveness and privilege.
