Sweeping generalizations like this are generally not true

likesmart

it’s likely driven by not having access to keyboard and mouse / the OS on a computer.

this sense of tech illiteracy applies to older people who didn’t grow up with computers as well

there is an increasing number of kids using touch screens rather than mouse and keyboard.
plus mobile devices like tablets and phones run their own OS so that’s another learning curve.

not trying to say they are dumb or anything. it’s just that they probably don’t even come across a computer until college.

Doesn’t matter. They can use YouTube to learn and ChatGPT to write excel formulas

I’m not saying all Gen Z sucks at computers because sweeping generalizations are dumb, but I have had to teach a disturbing amount of new hires basic computer skills (e.g. saving a file to your desktop).

Just finishing my first week in as an audit intern and genuinely I have no idea what I'm doing or even a general idea of the audit process. The senior associate left the engagement last week so it's just me and an associate, and they don't have time to give me instruction.

Am I stupid or did the e-learns not prepare me for any of this? The training told me I'd be auditing cash but I haven't even touched a bank reconciliation.

I’m going to be a dad! But I have some questions. When should I tell my manager/teams? I’m up for senior promotion this year, will this impact that promotion? For those of you that work in public what tips do you have for managing your work and family responsibilities? For context, my wife, once she’s done with maternity leave, will only work 25-30 hours a week. I know working in public and having a new born is probably going to be a lot to juggle, but I have to make it work.

The bigger pay as an analyst is tempting, but the company benefits are meh.
