I have been given a verbal offer of 145k base for a Sr. Associate role as Data Analytics Lead. The offer doesn’t come with any kind of bonuses or stocks.
I have a Masters and 5+ years of exp and my current comp is 115.5k + approx 5k bonus + ~20k in stocks (yearly refreshes) which makes my total current comp to 140k.
Is it worth taking the offer for increase in just the base?
What are my chances of negotiating into a VP level role with at-least 155k?

Elephant jungle sanctuary in chiang mai! A close intimate experience with rescued elephants. No riding of course, but still a great ethical experience with them
Also, is Phuket locked in? Krabi/Ao Nang are better imo, with a similar vibe to Phuket
Loved Krabi!! If you choose that over Phuket you’ll still love it!
Chiang Mai -
We feel in love with "It's Good Kitchen". Really cheap, but very good. Be sure to try "Morning Glory" as an appetizer; for some reason it's hard to find. The mango sticky rice is impeccable nearly everywhere.
We also loved the Thai Ahka Kitchen cooking class - https://instagram.com/thaiakhakitchen
We made a wrong turn and found the Kaew Gallery. She's a local artist that got her start at the market, but saved up and got her own studio one street over. We bought one piece there, but follow her Insta (@kaewgallery) and had another piece shipped during the pandemic. In general, art is really cheap there compared to American prices. They'll take the canvas off and roll it into a tube for you to get it home; airlines didn't count it as a carry on. Stretcher bars are under $100 if you stretch it yourself (it's easy).
We did tours with: https://instagram.com/happy_bird_tour (hiking temples, he takes great photos of you included in the rate. Extremely nice and friendly guy; honestly miss him lol)
https://instagram.com/8adventures.chiangmai (kayaking and ATVing into the mountains. Visited a native tribe and watched the sunset from the big elephant sanctuary)
I forget where we took care of elephants, just make sure it's a sanctuary or retirement place, not a place where you're riding them and they're mistreated.
We did Krabi instead of Phuket, so no comment there.
Bangkok -
Thai Niyom was very good if you're in that part of the city.
We did a tour with https://instagram.com/hiddenbangkoktours and loved it. He showed us a lot and taught us a lot. Definitely the most memorable experience in Bangkok. We hit like 6-7 activities in one night; if I told you all of them, you'd think I covered a week-long trip.
Definitely changing my plans for the beach. Thanks so much for the heads up!
Avoid big restaurants, especially non Thai, enjoy local street side food stalls
I said non Thai guys, non Thai big restaurants are more expensive, not good value for money. Thai restaurants were good per my experience. But the best food I had was street food.
Drop by the chatuchak weekend market. Bring water and be prepared to walk a lot. That place is huge. Go early so that you’re not there in the heat of the day.
Drop by a nice large mall. It’s a good break of the heat and generally have amazing food courts.
Go by Wat Pho for a massage. Generally known as where thai massage was invented. Don’t see a lot of farangs (foreigners) there though. But it’s right across from the grand palace so it’s a good addition.
เที่ยวให้สนุกน่ะ!!
Yes to wat pho massage school! It’s I cheap and so good.
Skip Phuket. Hit up Ko Samui
Folks have recommended great activities and I simply want to add that the St Regis in Bangkok is world class for the price or points you pay.
Chiang mai - Chiang Rai, doi inthanon garden waterfalls, canyon, Hmong tribes, Mae sai day trip to Myanmar, golden triangle, isan style food. Avoid Cambodia
Phuket and bkk are touristy
Have fun!
You can ask at local hotels, they will point you in the right direction.
Hua hin an hour or so north of Bangkok has decent beaches. However, there are a ton of options so don’t limit yourself
Elephant jungle sanctuary and tiger kingdom in Chiang Mai. Street food in Bangkok.
The place we went to said they don’t drug the tigers, but fair point. Also, I love all animals in the cat family and this was my only chance to go hug tigers so I did it anyway.
Did the same but Bangkok up front. I did a day trip to Chiang Rai to see the white temple and the Black museum (highly recommend).
I though Phuket was a waste. But, I live in Florida and have fantastic beaches nearby.
If I did it again, I’d skip Phuket and do more time inland or up North and see more of the country.
FWIW - I went for 19 days right evenly split between the three.
Take a boat ride from Phuket to Koh Yao Yai and stay at Santhiya Resort. Your mind will be blown by the beauty and truly an island experience. Have been to Thailand twice for a total of 6 weeks. Love the country.
Wait, is Thailand open for tourism again? Without needing to quarantine?
Not set on Phuket, but definitely want to get some beach time in. So any other beach destinations would be helpful to know about!
Second Koh lanta...did a day trip to many islands and it was the best !!
Thailand is my favorite country in the world and CM is my favorite city and I spent time there as a backpacker staying at cheap places. Enjoy!
Patara Elephant Farm in Chiang Mai
Given the recent developments with COVID in SE Asia, it seems like this trip may be off the table for now!
