Does anyone else have the impression that USAA has been steadily going downhill for the last decade?

like

CXS must work for USAA.

funny

I can tell you in the scenarios that are cats whether that be a hail storm or a hurricane, I have not heard of or heard very little of people not getting their checks from USAA right away and or having problems with USAA. So I will check your policy because if you don’t have rebuild and you have cash value, there’s a huge difference there! I’ve heard of many litigations with Allstate.

You obviously don’t know how insurance works. If you are looking at homeowners insurance, the weather is having an impact almost no matter where you live. If you were looking at auto insurance in my area, many people are not insured. That means you pay your deductible every time you make a claim for somebody who’s uninsured that makes your rate go up. If that’s happening to other people either of those situations, yes your rates go up.
Have you thought about self insuring?

Thats just the insurance model. They always go up every year because 7/10 people don't switch, which makes the price increase worth it to the provider. If you switched then came back to USAA in a year or two they'll probably give you a competitive rate again.

Geico went up, shopped elsewhere and got a quote 33% lower. Or conversely, renewal was 50% higher than jumping ship.

like

they do seem to try to creep up prices so have to shop around every few years. It’s standard industry practice tho so need to do it either way

like

bro shopping around should be basically websurfing right lol no longer need to talk on the phone

like

Yep changed to GEICO for insurance

Yeah, I've been with them close to 20 years. They were amazing and innovative when I adopted. Nowadays, I'm pretty close to switching on any given day. Already gave up on the insurance. But I might move my primary accounts to somebody I can talk to face-to-face. It used to feel like they cared. Now it feels like BoA or Wells Fargo.

Have an offer from AWS for an L7 Principal PMT role: $215k base + $275k sign on bonus for Year 1 and $215k for year 2 + 5100 RSUs (@ $130 / share). This is the initial offer; where is there room for negotiation? Base or Sign on Bonus or RSUs? I realize it's a good offer, but I'm looking for: $225k base + existing sign on + 5500 RSUs. Does that sound like a decent counter?

For staff/seniors in public accounting. Would you rather be paid 1 1/2 for your tax season overtime hours or would you prefer to wait for a big fat bonus check at the end of the company year? I heard KMPG paid overtime at 1.5 back in the day when the others didn't. I am sure they have now cut that out though.

I never felt the need to until I realized how much being bipolar can affect my ability to work.

For those of you who got out at 10, do you wish that you rode it out to 20? I’m at a crossroad and I’m not sure what to do. Have some active/reserve time, wrapping up graduate school, and am now considering either a) come back to the business world or b) go active and retire before 50 and live off a nice pension. Obviously there are draws to both. I’m an officer for what it’s worth so I can realistically retire at O-5, MAYBE O-6.
