I think it depends on how long you were in. I did 4.5 years. I still talk a lot about my Military days..it’s been 9 years since I got out.
But I think I really felt comfortable as a professional and civilian around 2 years after transitioning. I first did a few government contracting jobs which meant I was still around DoD but once I started working in the private sector is when I was fully comfortable.
However, I still have imposter syndrome. I work for a global consulting firm in a Director capacity and still feel like there’s soo much I don’t know compared to my peers who went to college (I was enlisted). But in reality, must of that is a manifestation of my own insecurity. Have to focus what we bring to the table, which we often do not see clearly, but civilians do.
It’s uncomfortable. But remember that we are all conditioned to deal with being uncomfortable. You’d be surprised what we are capable of.
Took about 2-3 years.
Lol are you me? Also at Accenture
Went to college and now 2 years into working sometimes I still feel that way, but this is 100% better than being in the desert
For me It doesn’t go. Every new client/project it’s comes back unless I’m recycling solutions and decks
After 4 years of school + 3.5 in the workforce just starting to feel comfortable and almost “caught up”.
Took 2-3 years for me.
