It’s not a level down, it’s a lateral move. We have a ton of AI projects and the analysts tend to actually put Deloitte as the lead in Analytics & AI amongst consulting firms.
I think you could ask for SC, but be willing to take C. When we discuss after interviews, we do a deep dive on leveling. So you were probably put at C for a reason. But, you are probably right on the line.
If the pay is good, go for it and blow them out of the water and get a top performance review at year end and get a big raise / bonus.
Left from kpmg to deloitte. Its entirely years of experience. Kpmg’s fruity two level staff structure doesnt translate. A&c is fun, come join us

I'd suggest no if you think you can hit manger in a year or so.
^if op is going to make manger in 1 year at KPMG or 3 at Deloitte I'd rather shoot for manager. OP will make manger at least two years earlier than Deloitte and will already be a good chunk of the way to director. That will more than make up a $10K difference. That and the lighthouse is a good DS group.
Cont.: Pay is slightly higher at Deloitte, but only by about 10-15% and people at Deloitte seemed to behind us in ML and general statisical methods based on my interviews. Is it worth taking the plunge?

2nd level. But I have 5.5 years experience and realistic shot at Manager with Lighthouse this year with Lighhouse expanding at absolute viral pace in the last 24 months. Don't think any big 4 firm would promote in year 1 or even year 2. Manager is same level from top at both places.
Is it worth asking Deloitte for Senior Con?
Yea I would try to go for senior con. Or wait until manager and then jump

Thanks everyone for the responses. I asked again for Senior Consultant, and will decline otherwise. One of my buddies at BCG Gamma made it easy in thinking through this, she said, if the folks leading a data science group can't make a binary decision, yes or no to hiring as a senior consultant (which I intervewed for. That they should either hire as one or reject outright) but level set, then that is a data science group not to be joined. Might sound arrogant but that talk really added the perspective I was looking for.
OP, a bit off topic but is SPI part of Lighthouse? Or at least works closely with them? Considering an opportunity and would appreciate any insight!
Do you means Strategic Profitability Insights? That is under deal advisory at kpmg I think but I have no idea what they do.
The two main Data Analytics groups are Lighthouse and Tax Data & Analytics though. Tax D&A is under Tax leadership and also have big presence if not bigger presence than Lighthouse in KPMG Ignition Centers(KPMG's innovation offices, kind of) but work mostly on tax/finance use cases.

Do you mind sharing how much Deloitte is offering? If it is more than 130k you would be at the upper end for the consultant level which would like salary progression. Also Deloitte is less ML/AI focused and more BI/Implementation work.
