All you have to do is sit through a timeshare presentation. Just say no and you're good
If you flinch and buy the timeshare, it’s a horrible deal.
If you say no a dozen times, it’s a good deal.
Also, just remember you can almost always “rent” someone’s points for cheaper than their yearly fees since inevitably people can’t go every year, so even if you are tempted, it is NOT worth the down payment and commitment!

Great hotel and location, normally way more than that rate. Nice pool with a lazy river, too.

Yep, no catch other than a presentation.
These are often put on by Vistansa and not Marriott proper. As such, you usually won’t get elite night credits or be eligible for upgrades or other perks your status might give (though some do still get these). But the promo is usually pretty dang good. I haven’t done it for Hawaii (and often see this promo and with a rental car included) but I’ve done it in Palm Springs.
Not that I know of. They’re usually personalized offers. And if you get one you have to work off their calendar of availability.
How do you get such promotions?
They’ll email them to you randomly. I started getting them not long after joining marriott’s rewards club.
Wife and I did it a few years ago (2013?). It was legit. You had to listen to a private 90 minute sales pitch but it was very low-key and involved tours of the property not just trapped in a room somewhere. They also threw in a rental car for me at no charge.
Don’t forget 14 days quarantine in the front end
You don’t have to quarantine for 14 days if you provide a negative covid test within 72 hours of travel. I was just there in November 👍🏼
How can I get this offer? Or any idea who to call to receive that same or similar? I am only asking because I am planning on being in Maui 12/27-1-1/2021
Great deal, I was just there for thanksgiving and have stayed at that resort 4 times now it’s awesome. You can snorkel right out front of the hotel and see amazing sea life, it’s close to downtown lahaina, and the resort itself is great. Don’t but the timeshare even if you want to, go on redweek and buy someone’s second hand for a fraction of the price.
