I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.

That's free lounge access for a year ($450 fee waived). If you fly United frequently that sounds pretty good to me.
Get Uber Visa card
No mileage bonus signup offer, don’t give them your business
To be honest I've not enjoyed the United Club experience. It's usually crowded, there's not much real food in there (drinks & snacks yes), and I don't find I get a lot of opportunity to take advantage of it. Your mileage may vary with it though - so I guess depends on how much you fly United through airports with a United Club. I think sign up points bonuses are worth more though than a free year of united club access due to flexibility in booking travel.
What’s the bonus miles signup offer?
Agree with BCG1. Sometimes I go straight to gate and don’t even bother. Club is only good for soup, cookies, and coffee
I disagree with BCG1. The biggest appeal to the club is the exclusive access to “gate agents”. The staff in the club can change/modify anything that a gate agent can, yet they rarely ever deal with disgruntled patrons. This has saved me many times when weather causes issues. Now, I would not do the card. Get the CSR and pay for the membership to get the travel reimbursement. Or get the United card and earn double miles for a “United” purchase.
If you're looking for a card with lounge access, Amex Platinum is the way to go. However, not at every airport. The United lounge is fine
Agree that a nice bonus miles is required or walk away.
Any credit card app is a hard pull.
Credit card apps are minimal impact on credit scores. I do two a year and way over 840
The bonus miles are nice, but if I got this offer I'd absolutely take it. Enjoy the lounge for a year, then cancel and apply for the United Explorer during one of the 70k bonus offers.
Zero
Basically your decision is: Is 1 year of United Club Access worth (to you) the hit your credit score will take (hard pull and pulling down average credit history length).
C1: that’s a good point but I didn’t think it’ll be a hard pull though. After using the card and showing pay discipline I imagine the credit rating will recover? That’ll probably take a few months but no more than 6?
