How beneficial are the cold recruiter emails in securing a job? I’m about to start a job search (once I fix up my resume and linked in) and have gotten various contacts from varying sized companies and would-be great opportunities like AWS, but is responding to these recruiters a good use of my time? How far ingrained in the hiring process are they? I’m not sure if that path guarantees my foot in the door, so any insight is greatly appreciated!

This probably sounds bad (based on my title) but I am looking for a referral for a new job. 17 YOE with 10 of them at a tech vendor and 7 in "consulting". I even did a stint as an Interim CIO for a large midwestern health system. I have been stuck on the staff augmentation side of "consulting" for too long and just can't do it any more. You want bodies, we got bodies is the mantra. I want to make a difference. 200K TC would be great but honestly, anything to make me feel alive again.

OK gonna maybe open a can of worms here but I have to ask: it seems the sudden inflation we're seeing has taken the ins. ind. by surprise. The cost/expense projections done X yrs. ago for this and poss'y subsequent yrs. have been thrown off. Costs to repair/replace cars have shot up unexpectedly. Same for houses. Yes, there will be delightful moments here and there when they’re fun and you’re proud of them, but you may very easily decide it’s just not worth it.

I am traveling to a Latin America country for a week and realized my cell phone provider does not have an option for international service there 🤦‍♀️ Obviously I could use wi-fi calling options but I’d like to be able to use my phone anytime for calls or texts at a minimum in case of emergency.
