Which one to choose between Optum and Tiger Analytics for Data Scientist position? Where can I expect better data science domain expertise (In my previous companies I found very less understanding of Data Science practices as team)? Heared good things about both of these. Also hearing Tiger is expanding rapidly and getting some crap projects as well in the name of data science. Could someone put light on these things?

I would personally make the jump. 1 yr is a small blip of time in the grand scheme of your career. Honestly the toxic culture itself would have made me consider leaving. If you think you are upgrading in brand, deal flow/experience, and culture, it is worth the 1 yr trade off imo.
Thanks!
One hear is nothing, youre being given a legitimate opportunity to continue to master your level and improve your chances of success on a new team.
There are real disadvantages to climbing fast.
What sectors
Honestly no I wouldn’t. Probably won’t that much of a difference in the long run but depends on what you wanna do I guess. If you’re super committed to the sector for your whole career it could help.
1 year is nothing long term. If deal flow and reputation are that much better + you’re not happy where you are, sounds like a no brainer
My first advice is make sure the grass is actually greener if you switch.
But from my view, not sure the industry you’re running, but there are several sectors where IB is not getting the recruits it did in the past and that shows in a need for hiring. What that leads to is the demand for associates. Where I’m at several banks are offering A3s a promo to Associate if they come over, and I’d be more inclined to tell you to stay for at least the Associate promo if you’re confident it’ll come in March 2027, and then you can hop as an associate to another bank right after if you desire.
I also don’t know your situation, but a lot of people say they have a “toxic” environment when it’s the same elsewhere.
Sounds like you know what you want to do
