Mental Health Check-in: How’s everyone doing during these dog days of summer?

Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? (Also I’m only 1.5yrs old in my career so I’m definitely still new, and I have previous experience as a project assistant).

My skin has always been a little dry. I’ve used plain coconut oil on my face for years (as a moisturizer) but recently stopped because my fave would just get red after application. Not itchy but I definitely felt like my skin was reacting. Any suggestions for non-acne related calming face washes or moisturizers?

Thoughts on calendar being double booked? What are the etiquettes to be followed. Often people double book and it feels like “ my meeting is more important that whatever you have booked time for in yours”. If both meetings are same urgency/importance - what’s the best approach ? I was laid off in June. Most consulting companies are on a hiring freeze that I’ve talked to. It’s pretty hard on my psyche to not get down on myself. I worked so hard to get to Deloitte and now it feels like I’m starting over. It’s tough. Any advice on companies that are hiring? I only want to go if it is a fit not just anywhere you know. Thanks.

Lots of right wing hysteria about liberals trying to engineer equality of outcome to correct sexual/racial inequities (in higher ed, for example). I think we all want socioeconomic, gender and racial barriers to opportunities to be addressed, but no significant number of people really believe in equality of outcome right? Why are potential business happenings by a candidate’s kid disqualifying but (gestures wildly) for the other candidate not for TSers? Going to your resort, conducting federal business at your property, having foreign officials stay, not doing a blind trust, being granted trademarks/land deals in other countries, promoting your products/books in office, calling out other companies? Stop pretending you care or advocate for anything good/true.

Really don’t understand people who defend the Chicago cops. The teenager at no point tried to threaten them and we encourage gun ownership in this country.
