Yes. Run run run. Please. Especially if you’re a person of color or minority in some way, they’re trying to protect their own asses in case a discrimination suit is filed down the road. Speaking as someone who has had this happen to her- and now at her new job, advises companies to do the same to prevent discrimination suits. RUN!
I am a POC. Thanks for the perspective.

Yeah...time to job hunt. They've already made their decision and now they're just papering it.
Mostly time management and hitting deadlines. I’ve taken steps to address since and working on presenting myself in a better light but wanted to know if it was all fake (as in there’s no hope) or if it’s actually a tool for self-development (where if you address issues you stay)

I was told I needed to improve and a few weeks later I was let go. Not sure that helps

This is a PIP (performance improvement plan). And it can be used genuinely to help someone who is "almost there" but more often is a way to create a paper trail to show you didnt meet so...ax. Only OP knows whether there's any hope--is it doable or too lofty? Do you feel set up?
PIPs were invented by employment lawyers specifically to tee up MSJs on term suits. No one survives, and no liability for employers.

Correct
I always heard it was the "nice" way of giving you notice a bit early
Dumb question but what exactly is an “action plan?” Like how is this pitch given? For those of us not in big law.
I’d start job hunting just in case. Honestly, even if you recover and remain, some people will always remember that you were on an action plan and won’t trust you. It’s better to get out and start over
Hm. Good point, better to get a sense of the market (which sucks rn) than sit around and wait.
no but i just got fired yesterday out of the blue for unsatisfactory job performance with absolutely no notice. never even got feedback from the partner on anything.
super shady, but i posted this to say that at least you have some warning to start looking for a new job in the event of a potential lay off.
