Has anyone dealt with movers recently? I have gotten a few quotes from a website. 1br apt from DC to ATL and they’re telling me $1900. Seems low. Loading, unloading, driving, fuel. No hidden fees.

That’s about what I paid for a 1br move from Chicago to LA

Is this a scam?

That’s not a bad price. I don’t think that low

Keep in mind that they fill up one truck with a number of moves, so you only pay a portion of the fuel, driver time and so on.

Yes you might have to wait an extra day. If more than that they sometimes transfer your stuff to a smaller truck and bring it to you. But can vary by company, so read the deets on delivery timing and such.

Can y’all recommend companies you’ve used? I hear so many scams about people’s stuff getting stolen, not arriving on time or just completely damaged

That’s less than I paid for a studio from Minneapolis to Chicago. Have you checked their yelp page?

Use thumbtack for smaller local movers. I moved frm a two bedroom apartment to a five bedroom house and the whole six hour move cost $800. There are deff deals to be found. Also, read the fine print and watch out for extra charges. Thumbtack is a great site where contractors bid for you

Im doing a long distance move. But thanks!

Seems legit - I did the ATL - DC move in 2015 and it was 1200. They make money by moving multiple peoples stuff in one truck and making a few stops. Just make sure they have a legit yelp, other reviews, or a rec from your network.

What are some credit cards like the Apple Card that don’t have any physical numbers on them?

I like the Apple Card and considering opening one but want to see if there are better alternatives. It’s enticing that if I lose my card, I can instantly change the number so someone can’t use it. Plus no numbers means someone can’t randomly make a large fraudulent purchase.
