It's ridiculous and totally unnecessary in my opinion. The US isn't magically going to transform into the manufacturing capital of the world overnight, we're just going to end up paying more for everything. I'm very glad I got my new car last year, I would not want to be in the market for one right now.
Leased one as soon as I heard about the tariffs with the intention of buying it. This is all ridiculous. Prices of everything are going up with no end in sight.
Bought mine right after I heard about potential tariff increases
Will be buying mine once my lease is up - normally I trade it in for the newest model (RAV4 Hybrid). This is idiotic.
This has definitely made me rethink my timeline. I was planning to wait until the end of the year to buy, but if these tariffs are likely to take effect, I might need to move sooner. That said, I also don’t want to rush into a big purchase just to avoid a potential price increase. It’s frustrating to have trade policy influencing what should be a straightforward decision.
We bought a new car in December since we were thinking about it so we used the tariffs as a forcing function.
