Should people be fired for lack of people skills?

Bad part of being laid off: many many interviews (and of course lack of job). Silver lining: no more virtual company happy hours! I do not miss the pressure to participate.

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. In my current company stuck in a project where there's no learning scope, no growth and work culture is toxic. Folks - when you calculate the total diluted share counts, does the result have to tie to the reported diluted share counts on the most recent filing (either 10K or 10Q)?

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Does anyone know if the 10% penalty and if taxes are waived on a death of a beneficiary? A friend of mine’s 17 year old pass away. Does anyone have ideas on how to navigate a smaller team environment when everyone’s roles seem to be stretched (hiring for additional people has been taking a while, not sure why). The stress causes some tension and that’s probably not great for the overall morale of the company long-term.
