Hi everyone,
I have a total 9+ work ex in Devops and Release Management. Did an executive mba with a goal of breaking into Program management but got recruited into Management Consulting . In this company for the past 3 months.
I feel that my overall skills are better off in a TPM/Program Management role.
My overall experience makes me eligible for most PM roles.
My question is how do I prep for a TPM role since I don’t have development or Scrum Master exposure. Amazon India VMware BrowserStack Inc.

I actually got a job while pregnant, and the new company covered my maternity leave on their dime so I didn’t have to beg my old company or pay them back. I was at home with my newborn when Day 1 at the new job came around.
I did this. Started new right off mat leave, was a fresh start all around. My new job gave me a bonus to cover it as you mentioned. Best decision I ever made - go for it! It’s hard enough to return from leave - it makes it a bit easier when you’re returning to something you’re really looking forward to.
If you can get your new gig to push your start date, I believe you just need to work a month (30 days) at your current job to avoid paying back your leave. Might be worth it if you can’t get a bonus to help mitigate the costs.
Congrats on the new gig!
Haven’t heard of paying back your leave before. I’m contemplating something similar. Does anyone have intel on the exact policy?
I’ve been digging through my documentation and can’t find it written anywhere, so it might be an outdated concern. The laws in New York are pretty strong so I’m hoping I’m just being paranoid.
Paying back short term disability is not a thing! It’s insurance, you medically qualified for. Are you talking about paying back some other benefit? Was it called out before you took it that it was separate from the STD leave?
At my company, mat leave is half paid for by the company, then second half STD kicks in. It’s that first part that would have to be paid back. Agree with the post that mentioned you only need to be back for 30 or so - varies place to place. Get a copy of your HR handbook so you know the policy at your company for sure. I think you should go for it if you really want it, if you think it will give you a better work life balance, if it’s a toxic environment, etc.
One other devils advocate thing to think about. Being a new Mom means lots of new changes, as you know. Going back to work will be another adjustment. Taking a new job on top of that is an additional layer of change. Just think on that before making your decision.
