I have been given a verbal offer of 145k base for a Sr. Associate role as Data Analytics Lead. The offer doesn’t come with any kind of bonuses or stocks.
I have a Masters and 5+ years of exp and my current comp is 115.5k + approx 5k bonus + ~20k in stocks (yearly refreshes) which makes my total current comp to 140k.
Is it worth taking the offer for increase in just the base?
What are my chances of negotiating into a VP level role with at-least 155k?

Beta blockers. I tried everything before that: coaching, therapy, breathing exercises, Xanax, tons of practice.
Love em! But i did 30 mg last time and still felt the jitters. how much did you go up to? GP said 60 tops.
Do it more. Practice. Join or start a toastmasters chapter. Not medication.

take some improv classes, clears it right up.
i did improv and it didnt help while i wasnt nervous on improv im more nervous in presentations. the trick is to get comfortable with the material youre presenting and really understand your role and believe in the work youre presenting - otherwise you will stumble your way through it

Propranolol is prescribed as a stage fright drug. I used it when I gave the eulogy at my father’s funeral and it made a huge difference. Works quickly, doesn’t get you high, and wears off quickly (it only lasts for about an hour or two). It slows your heart rate so you can’t race up a flight of stairs or go for a jog while you’re on it but otherwise it’s completely unnoticeable.

Practice. thats it. and rely on your decks to tell a lot of the story where you are building over it vs speaking to every detail (make jokes have fun too). everyone is terrified the first few big public speaking engagements. you just get more comfortable at it.
As AD1 said, get some training. Ask your career developer or HR if there’s training budget available. Also, i found it helpful speaking in front of a small group of co-workers to practise. Good luck.

When I started presenting to clients I was kind of a mess. My brain would sometimes go blank, i would trip over my words… rehearsing would make me sound like a robot.
The only 2 things that worked were: 1. putting myself into low-stakes situations where I would need to speak to a room full of people to get practice and 2. Tell myself that the anxiety was just excitement in different clothing (which was mostly true, just reframing it in my mind).
Yep. Practiced and practiced till I no longer was afraid most of the times. Now I get a blip here and there but I’m cured. One thing that helped me was talking to someone who is a great public speaker and getting pointers from them. If you have someone like that in your orbit, reach out to them. They might be able to give you some tips and tricks that work.
