Thanks, guys, for all the comment and replies. I now have a logistic problem - these MBA / EMBA applications require recommendation letters from your current supervisor. what should I do / how should I go about raising the subject with my boss if 1. I doubt he will support and 2. It will give away my intentions to leave the firm / switch out of the industry given MBA is not a thing in my consulting firm?? How do I get buy in?
Short answer is yes. Don’t just look at Booth
Bear in mind I my opinion is based on a COVID world, but it has to do with the people more than the program. We get less time together, so the time we do have is basically stuck to each other like glue. We call each other over the phone, we have adhoc happy hours constantly, and when we were on campus, we would spend 20 out of 24 hours every residency day near each other in class or out at the bars. In fact this style of forced closeness is part of the reason you develop such string ties to the people you go to basic training with in the military, so there is an element of that for sure. On top of that, the type of student that is in an EMBA program makes a huge difference S well. They are there to network for the network to improve their current career experience, not necessarily there to network to get a a new job or pivot (though this does happen, it’s in the severe minority), the difference is not even subtle, it’s massive.
EMBA is geared to those planning to stick, that’s nit a problem I can advise for
