I have no consulting experience and I have accepted an internship offer at an advertising firm for this summer. What steps would you advise me to take to get into consulting? Also, I get to pick between strategy and accounts for the internship - would either be more useful?

Not cpa related, but if anyone is applying to pwc start internship 2021 and you identify as a minority you can "present yourself as a minority" and a recruiter will refer you to a web page to see if you meet this criteria. How do top consultants create really good visuals or dashboards without being exceptionally talented with data cleaning, manipulation, and visualization software such as power BI or tableau. Always hear that MBB consultants don’t have to be technically savvy (e.g. alterx, tableau, etc) but don’t get how you create insights without being great with data.

How do you come off confident without projecting “ego”? Recruiting for startup roles out of mbb and recognize tech dislikes consultants and generalizes us as egotistical but struggling to find balance between humility and owning my skills/experience. The headhunter is pushing me to consider the small fund. Question on changing roles: a friend of mine did not pass the final round at BCG for an associate position, due to not having as much relevant experience as the other candidates. However, they are interested in him and will likely offer him a research position. Does anybody know whether it is likely that you can switch from a research role to a consulting role? Very interested to learn if anyone has experienced this :)
