Has anyone had positive experiences working in accounting or finance for PE owned companies?

I've had something similar. Instead of a positive experience, it was negative.

My small 100 person firm was acquired by a global firm that took PE money a few years ago. There have been more positives than negatives since we got acquired by the PE backed firm.

Ahhhh. My question was more geared towards non public accounting companies but its good to hear you had a good experience and not all PE is bad

I joined EY in January. Had no work all of January, but was busy for February and some of March. I have been unassigned for about 4 weeks now, sending availability emails to all of the service lines we are allowed to reach out to for work. I should not have come here 🤦🏼‍♂️ I know it’s nice to have some down-time, but when every day is staring at a computer, the days are SO long.

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
