Has anyone here ever countered an offer and ended up not getting the job because you countered? I’ve heard to always negotiate but since this market is so tough, I’m wondering if it’s more likely to backfire now.

I think it can happen, but it’s usually less about negotiating itself and more about how far the counter is or how it’s framed. I’d still negotiate if the offer is below what you need, but I’d keep it reasonable and make it clear you’re excited about the role. A good company shouldn’t pull an offer just because you asked professionally.

Great advice. Thanks for responding!

As long as you’re reasonable I don’t think they’d pull an offer over it.

True! Thanks for the reply.

I’m going to be a dad! But I have some questions. When should I tell my manager/teams? I’m up for senior promotion this year, will this impact that promotion? For those of you that work in public what tips do you have for managing your work and family responsibilities? For context, my wife, once she’s done with maternity leave, will only work 25-30 hours a week. I know working in public and having a new born is probably going to be a lot to juggle, but I have to make it work.

I’ve been asked by a client to coach their team on how to structure and write scripts for their corporate event content (e.g. panel discussions). Or would it usually be something a content or speech writer would do?
Either way, I’m happy to add the additional skill to my CV 😅

To fellow Agency Producers. how often are you doing print producing, as well as video production? My agency doesn’t have a print producer in house, and I am finding myself doing that job + the normal video production of campaigns we continually do. I feel over worked and underpaid. Any advice or thoughts?

Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?
