McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company Hi there! I’m looking at applying to McKinsey, and am wondering what is the correct level to apply for. I’m a second year analyst (recently promoted to consultant but title isn’t effective until end of the month), and I’ve been with my firm for 1.5 years. Is business analyst the correct level for me, or should I be looking at associate roles? Reading the description for associate, I feel like it might be the Deloitte equivalent of SC lol

What part of Deloitte are you in?
I’ve worked with a group in Digital that used to be part of Monitor - I think my overall exp hits the mark, while the branding of it may not

Maybe I misunderstood, but the question is a little strange to be honest. Most of the people I know that had the chance to move to MBB had a very good idea of what they're signing up for and were well-informed about what MBB means, the culture, the expectations, the people, how they'll fit in, etc.. so the comparison you're making is making me doubt that you understand the difference between B4 and MBB. I can sort of understand your question if the comparison was between T2 and MBB as the gap between those two is not as wide.
Again, I might have misunderstood
I’m thinking of it from the perspective of the effort required to make this move and while the salary and opportunities may be great, everything comes with a trade off (for instance time, travel etc.). Have you made this move?
I think anyone would love to make that move. Not only do you get a significant salary increase but your exit opportunities also get a lot better.
It certainly would - all depends what you value. If you’re up for it, I would suggest take it and work for a few years and then take (what would be) a better exit opportunity. It depends on your lifestyle too - personally, I would have jumped at this opportunity 4-5 years ago but now that I have a child and value family commitment/work life balance, I would have to think about it.
