Both are good. Dallas is much bigger city and more job opportunities than Charlotte.
Dallas is great for jobs and amazing for lifestyle. There are a million things to do in Dallas for entertainment, outdoor activities, and culture (because of all of the museums it has). Dallas also has a ton of great restaurants.
You mention H1B - if you are Indian - DFW has a massive Indian population. MASSIVE.
Dallas for jobs, Charlotte for lifestyle
Pro
I'm partial to DFW, no state income tax is a huge benefit. The area has a ton of industries as well.
Unless you would be looking for roles in finance, Dallas is probably better for every other sector of consulting or industry.
I’ve spent several years in both cities traveling for engagements and I would drop Texas in a heart beat to go back to NC
“Dallas is the distillation of the most generic elements of American culture into a single city”
- Kevin Williamson
If you are looking specifically for job opportunities, Dallas’s larger market will probably be better.
Plenty of tech in Charlotte, but smaller overall.
I live in Dallas and like most things about it other than lack of mountains/ocean
I miss hills even.

I think Charlotte but have no ties nor have ever been to either lol
Sooo this will depend on lifestyle. Where are you from? Do you like to hike?
Dallas in particular is an interesting city for someone not from the US and non-white. If you have friends there it can be easy but I know a lot of folks who have had a hard time transitioning. Other than that, Texas over everything bc no state income tax and it’s home.
MC1 you are being pedantic. Frisco / Plano are obviously part of Dallas metro
Depends on the type of exit. I guess both cities have good consulting offices, Dallas does have bigger offices.
Infrastructure, manufacturing, Oil & Gas exits light be better in TX, Tech exits might be better in the RTP area.
Oil & gas is way bigger in Houston and surrounding cities than Dallas. Tech exits are better in Austin and Dallas.

Dallas is a way bigger market
Live in Raleigh but have spent a good amount of time in both Dallas and Charlotte. Dallas is a much larger market with the accompanying diversity of exit opportunities. Charlotte is smaller but isn’t without its own opportunities.
At the end of the day Charlotte would be my choice by a wide margin. The climate is much nicer IMO and you have easy access to both mountains and many beaches.
Do not move to Dallas…that the NC option! So much better place to live and so many job opportunities
The Dallas office is being rebuilt now - will be brand new if that helps
Depends on industry. O&G in Texas, FSI in Charlotte
In DFW there’s a lot of CPG more so than O&G. Also some high tech.
