It provides a potential blank slate on which to redefine ways of working between the organization’s data science and business teams. These relationships are usually tricky, and to the point of organizational benefits, a cloud migration can provide the backdrop for a big behavioral change.

You will save money should be enough

like

you rarely save money going from on prem to cloud because quantifying on prem costs is very difficult for most orgs - stick with variable pricing and backups/recovery and tertiary tech like api gateways

like

highly dependent on the situation. you've already paid for most of the hardware/licensing and unless you are going to pullout the entire stack you still need to maintain some on - prem, including personnel.

we've been trying to get our SAP into the cloud for years, we can never get it to be cheaper, it always end up being about 30% higher in the cloud no matter the provider.

Less Capex, improve opex, lower carbon footprint, better security and resiliency, deployment speed/agility, modular tech stack.

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?
