Mine was pretty laid back and conversational. Talk to them like you’re already colleagues with them, and try to talk about work experience, etc on a personal level
I had a technical exam because I came on as an experienced hire, but it was stuff like basic SQL statements. I don’t really remember the questions, but it was stuff like “what’s an example of a difficult situation at work, and what was your response?”

Super laid back. Completely conversational. Felt like I already worked for them. I did a case study but as long as you don’t completely miss the point you should be fine. They didn’t take notes on what I did right or wrong but if you bomb it I’m sure they would take notes. They cared more about my background and my experiences and my personality than if I could answer technical questions on the spot.

@ RSM 1 - thanks! Did you have any major behavioral questions or anything like that (even technical)? I’ve been seeing that RSM’s interviews are pretty laid back overall, just more of a get to know you sort of ordeal
Great to hear, SA 1. I feel like I’m worrying a little because I’m not exactly sure what to prepare since everything does seem conversational and that’s tough to prepare thoughts and ideas for.
Just be yourself. I promise. I’ve interviewed people before and the ones that have over prepared and can’t have a conversation are the ones I had the hardest time with. Just do some reading on their website, get to know some background on their culture, and the particular line of business your interviewing for and then just make sure you really spend time thinking about why you would be a good fit. That’s a big deal to rsm. Why would you choose them and why would they choose you
@OP what office?
I’m in SE region and have done experienced hire interviews before... I’ve never seen any sort of “technical exam” but it always helps 1) knowing what you’re interested in and how that would align with RSM and 2) have an answer ready for why you’re leaving your current firm. Also helpful to share extent of leadership/senior experience, level of client interaction, experience leading walkthroughs, reviewing wps, etc.
You would be surprised at the number of people that struggle explaining what they have done.
