Since when does appraisal pay more than REPE? Your just severely underpaid my friend. I used to work big 4 Valuations and was at 115k as a senior in SF. Left to REPE for 150 base and 50% bonus.
B4 you won’t have a life during busy season because a lot of the work will be audit related. Outside of busy season My typical work week now is about the same but of course I would rather work on closing deals, sourcing investments etc than working on random appraisals all day
As a guy that went in the opposite direction, I would not rec going from repe to valuations. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss more in depth
Second this… went from valuations to REPE. if you’re solely deciding based on comp, the 40% base increase is just a short term bandaid and you will likely make more in REPE down the line if you maintain the trajectory. It’s true, I’ve seen ppl at my old appraisal firm make decent $ just a few years in once they’ve settled into a groove, but the upside is not in valuations long term
In RE valuation, and B4 is a lot of cost segregation work and long hours. If going valuation, I think a large real estate firm (Cushman, CBRE, Newmark, Walker and Dunlop etc) is the way to go. Similar comp as B4 but better hours and more interesting work. Feel free to PM me.
I get paid salary plus bonus. Depends on the firm you work for. This is new in the last three years or so.
