Pay of the debt and invest the rest

like

Pay off the debt right before interest starts to accrue again. That should leave you with plenty of an emergency fund and some money to invest.

like

(make sure to leave enough cash for a 3-6 month emergency fund though

like

What rate is the debt? What are your monthly expenses?

like

Wow, $200 is amazing. Help your folks or plow whole paychecks into the market and some of that cash. Look at pwCs mega backdoor Roth IRA. It’s “after tax” contributions in the portal. Save like 24k there if you can and convert it into a Roth IRA held at Fidelity/Schwab/Vanguard.

Pay off the debt, without a doubt… it’ll be a weight off your shoulders and will need to be paid off eventually

like

Pay debt, invest the rest, and then save to purchase property (for either investing or living)

like

Make more money.

Wanting to optimize how you prioritize paying down debt and saving isn’t mutually exclusive from focusing on your career and earning more though. You can do both and smart decisions that help you save more now mean when you earn more, you may be more mindful about what you do with the extra income.

- 375k in a brokerage
- 5-6k per month cash that I can put towards the project, loans, or brokerage

22 years old and currently focused on using my left over income to invest and pay off my debt. I am set to pay off my college loans by next year and, when I do, I want to look into investing into real estate. Scores consider the number of accounts that are paid as agreed. Your score was impacted because the number of these accounts is too low, or because you've missed payments recently on some of your accounts.

I’m considering building up my I bonds to eventually replace my 6 month expenses emergency savings account. Any downsides I’m not considering? If I slowly ramp up and ladder, I can partially withdraw any amount if I need to after a year. Even with lower inflation in the future, I’m guessing it’s going to beat a savings account yield. Thoughts?
