Have you ever seen your exact job posted on Linkedin/Indeed while you're still in the position??

I've worked at an agency for about 4 years. Things have been good, got promoted awhile back, big raise, no issues. A couple things have gone south in the last month that I've discussed with my boss but again, nothing crazy.

Then last week I see my exact title and job description posted by a recruiting firm on Linkedin. It's 100% my agency and my job.

Ever experienced this? What would you do?

Ive been called by a recruiter for the job I left 3 months earlier. She said I was a perfect fit. I agreed, since I literally had that job and did it well until I left. She felt embarrassed (as she should), and I wished her luck in finding my replacement.

They didn’t want me to leave. But I knew things were going south quickly

So not to be that guy, but screen cap these postings and ensure time and date are part of these. I would also do this for the conversations with your manager.

Ask about the team expanding, because that may be all that it is, and I mean that, but when this happened to me? They were hiring my replacement and the above was helpful for the other side.

My last full time job they brought in someone to interview for my position in a glass meeting room 10 feet from my desk. I knew it was for my position because I knew the person being interviewed. They were an old coworker.

I walked right up to my boss, tapped him on the shoulder, said “I know who that is”, walked into HR and quit on the spot.

That job sucked and it was the best thing that ever happened to me and my career.

Good for you. I have fantasies about resigning like that after winning the lotto.

Didn’t see a job posting but heard through the grapevine that my job spec was getting advertised by internal recruitment. Was laid off along with one other in the department and replaced by one person at a cheaper rate a few months later.

This happened to me as they were trying to grow our team. However, what they listed as the salary range was $30K higher, at the lowest end, Than what I made, so I screenshot it and talked to my manager and HR. I was given a bunch of BS about how it’s listed as my same title but they’re looking for someone actually one level above me. Complete crap. They ended up pulling the posting down and reposting with a new title so I couldn’t complain.

did you leave?

Not exactly same, but I was promised a promotion that kept getting delayed, and then I saw that role being posted on LinkedIn. I saw it by accident, and immediately started looking. By the time they had the guts to tell me I wasn’t getting the promotion, I was already in final interviews elsewhere, and resigned quickly.✌️

What would a LI post say that could be so specific as to you bring sure it’s your job?

Are you the only one in that role?

This happened to my wife while she was on FMLA. Long story short, we ended up settling in arbitration.
