I once took a $30k pay cut ($*9K to $59K) to be teaching in the district my kids attended. It turned out to be a total $#!% show and I was gone after a year. I actually changed careers after that experience and there were a few tough years, but looking back on it I could not be happier with the way things worked out.
It’s funny how things tend to end up working on in the long run!
Not yet. Hopefully someday I'll be in a position to think more seriously about the long term. Right now, my sole focus is making as much as I can so I can retire while I'm still young enough to enjoy it.
I totally get not being able to think that far ahead!
What do you think would’ve been different if you stayed in your other role?
I had a potential offer that would have put me backwards in salary, but the company would have been great for the long term. Ended up not working out just because the pay was too low and the benefits were rough, too. I’d consider 5-10%, but I’d have to see the upside quickly
Totally agree—I’d definitely need to see the upside quickly

Yes and yes
Went from no benefits making $60k a year to full amazing extra benefits. Making $51,500/yr. I am so much more happier tbh
That’s great! Benefits play a much bigger role than we tend to realize

Not yet and if offered I wouldn’t take it unless they net it out with way better benefits
Benefits play a huge role!
