This doesn't sound like an ADHD problem, sounds like a bad manager problem
I had a business partner like this. He expected people to just know what he wanted. He couldn’t explain it or would get frustrated trying. Then he would get frustrated when the deliverable didn’t meet his expectations.
Don’t have much to advise here other than it’s his problem not yours. Do you have other sr team members you can go to for help? Let them know that you’re having a hard time understanding what your boss needs. Chances are you’re not alone
I don't have enough hands for how many times I've been told or shown with body language that I'm asking too many questions. Then when I "miss something" it's me to blame although I went through every avenue possible to obtain the information I needed. I finally work somewhere where communication is valued and it's made all the difference, plus the work is so much more efficient which is amazing for me. I would try and talk to your manager 1-1 about it, and if that doesn't work potentially talk to HR? You shouldn't feel discouraged by someone who's supposed to set an example for you.
Have you discussed your situation with your manager? I get that it's technically none of their business, but being open and honest about what's going on might help. If they understand why you tend to ask more questions or need help focusing, then they might be more willing to adapt and come up with a plan to create a work relationship that's mutually beneficial. You'll get more of what you need, and they'll get better performance out of you.
I am lucky to have a manager whom I have been working with for 7 years. He knew of my situation from the first year I was diagnosed with one. He was very understanding because his son has the same condition and he knows the struggle.
I just posted about this same problem!!! Have you found a solution? Help!
My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.
I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".
How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?
