For those of you who are SHRM CP certified. Can you please advise if the SHRM learning system is worth it? Are there other effective learning tools that are less expensive ?

No it isn’t. You can use Tools 2 Succeed for $300 and get the same material

Thanks. Looks like they no longer offer HR Certification Preparation preparation 😣

I bought it and haven’t touched it yet. Wrapped up my Master’s in December and am still trying to recover from the burnout. I’m not ready. It’s so much work!

like

I agree, It is a lot of work. You may have to take a break in between to avoid further burnout. Good luck!

This book is $40 on Amazon- Test Prep Books' SHRM CP Exam Prep 2022-2023: SHRM Certification Study Guide Book with 3 Practice Tests [3rd Edition]

I also listened to YouTube study prep.

Thank you! This was very helpful

I did the SHRM online self paced course (I also got the books but never touched them). I think I passed the exam because I retook the quizzes for each section multiple times and made flash cards for each section too. It was a lot of work but I did pass! Think it’s definitely worth it to ask your employer to pay as well!

like

Yes worth it. Get your employer to pay for it

like

Yeah I was thinking about doing that but don’t want to feel indebted to them. Still can’t hurt to ask though

What exit opportunities are people finding outside of another consulting firm? Don’t have a tech background and feel that I’m in the management consulting bubble and most interesting jobs seem to have a product, tech or strategy requirement and not sure how to approach those with current experience. Hi all,

Please suggest.
I've 3 yoe in techno-functional domain.
I wish to go into technical (development) profile now, but not as a fresher. I want to continue with 3 yoe.
But the issue is, I have no (dev) project to show in interview as an 3 yoe person.

I've learned Java, springboot, restfulAPIs, kafka, but still hesitant to go for interviews as I do not have projects to discuss.

I shall be very thankful to you if you help me here.
How/where can i go to make projects now to justify 3yoe?

Does scaler academy really helps?
I got a call from them to switch to product based company after completing ther well guided course.
Has someone went through this and got selected in any product based company or have some idea if this is really going to help me career wise?
Or should I switch to service based companies only as of now.

I currently work as an associate marketing manager for 2 years, I previously worked on the financial operations team. My manager was very patient and trained me in all our systems and my tasks. This was also during the pandemic so a lot of calls, sharing screens on teams. She was very hands on but I took as because I'm younger, new in the digital marketing world and she making sure I was set up for success. Fast forward to 1 year and half she became a helicopter manager.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Thoughts on Masters in Environmental Management programs? UCSB, Yale, etc.

I have a non-technical degree (Bachelor of Arts) and have been in management consulting at a Big 4 the last 5 years. I want to pivot my career to do something more meaningful - make a positive impact in the world, rather than continuing to help rich corporations get richer.

Thinking that doing a Masters will help arm myself with environmental / sustainability knowledge and a network.

So, at my workplace (university), we're essentially eliminating any full-time position if it's not currently filled.
