I just had a very eye opening experience where I actually started to regret turning down an offer because my company offered to match and I stayed, but the problems remained. Anyway, the potential new role started layoffs last week (insider info) and sounds like new hires were involved. Made me a little grateful I stayed at my old company.
Wow you got lucky!!!
It's all so situational. I'm in a spot where I regret saying yes for the reasons you listed, but I said yes because there's no wiggle room to say no. This market is volatile so it's hard to know when I'd get another offer. My philosophy was that it was better to continue having a paycheck instead of risk a layoff which is what my previous company was obviously setting me up for.
Yes! I turned down an offer where the vibe felt off later learned about their toxic turnover. Trust your gut. A bad culture will cost you more than a paycheck. Keep looking, the right fit is worth waiting for.

I turned s contract to per offer because it wasn't explained to me that it was contract to perm until after 3 panel interviews. The recruiter also misled me about health insurance (I have a family) and cut the rate by over half, saying the original rate I was given(in multiple e-mails from different people) was a typo. I only considered the role because it was really good $$ and temp so I could still look for a position I could grow in. Do I regret it? Depends on the day.

Yes many times. It is never just a job and to waste valuable time and energy on people or so-so situations is a recipe for regret.
Yes it was an offer from a startup. That was bought out for 200M. Said they are looking to hire there first security engineer. Interviewed with some of there developers and architects and when I asked about security she said they haven’t even thought about security i said yeahh im out
If you feel something is off about the culture — especially if people seem scared to collaborate or there's tension you can sense even in interviews — it’s probably best to run (not walk) away. Your gut is usually right, and no job is worth the toll a toxic environment can take on you.
