Hi Fishes,
Anyone here at Luxoft with permanent remote ? I got an offer. Will they ask to come to office at any point ? What about job security at Luxoft ? HR mentioned 8 hours per day and no need to enter timesheet, time will be auto captured. That means like we can't be away from the system at all ? Please help.
Thanks

Flexibility isn’t what’s earned. It’s a byproduct of trust. That’s what’s earned.

I see what you mean, and I agree there’s probably a correlation between seniority and trust. I just don’t think that means flexibility should automatically be tied to title. If trust is what’s earned, then it seems more fair to base flexibility on performance, role needs, and reliability rather than assuming seniority is the best proxy for all of that.
That makes sense… no? You haven’t earned the ability to be fully remote or ‘come and go as you please’ as we say in my office… get some years of experience… demonstrate your capacity to perform… and you’ll get promoted and enjoy those same luxuries…
My office is a we’re all adults attitude… we all know what we need to do to support ourselves and our families… and the metrics speak for themselves… when I first onboard new talent, I tell them the people to not put the cart before the horse…

I get what you’re saying, and I agree that trust, performance, and experience matter. Where I see it differently is that remote work does not always feel like a “luxury” or a matter of coming and going as you please. In some cases, it is just about whether the work can be done effectively from elsewhere. I’ve also seen situations where a role required managers and above to be onsite 5 days a week, but exceptions were made for the direct manager and several senior people in the larger org to be remote. That makes the policy feel less tied to business need and more tied to status. If the work truly requires being onsite, that should apply consistently. If the manager and senior team can be remote, it is fair to ask what purpose daily onsite attendance is actually serving.

To be fair, a lot of those guys are constantly traveling so I get it.
The more senior you get the more perks you get, and working remotely is a perk, so this makes sense no? Like senior people get corner offices junior people don’t, it’s a perk. It doesn’t make sense to you because you assume that remote work is based on if a job “needs” to be done in office — that assumption is false, it’s not about need.
Culture was never the main goal, not even close. The main reason is and always will be … money.
