Five references is a lot. I’ve given references for a job application before but I don’t think any of them have ever been contacted.
Have you asked why they need all the references? Maybe they just want to verify that you are who you say you are and to confirm you did the jobs at the places you claimed you did. Tbh giving your last supervisor’s contact info shouldn’t be an issue as long as you reach out to tell them that they may be contacted and asked question about who you are. I’m sure they’d be happy to help.
And maybe you can explain to the recruiter/HR that you don’t have the contact info for your other supervisors. Not everyone stays in contact with the people they used to work for. I’m sure they can understand that.
As for the rest of the references, you can always use LinkedIn to find people you’ve worked with in your last job and explain the situation. You’ll find some people that will be willing to help. If you’re still having trouble, then ask some close friends who don’t mind potentially having to talk about you for a few minutes with a future employer. I doubt they’ll all even be contacted.
Run. They are too antiquated.

Let's see. Mommy, daddy, brother, sister and grandma..... 5 is a lot. Usually it's 2-3 at most. Ask them if you will be getting an offer. Please do not call reference till we have an offer accepted.
