I love Jordan! I’ve spent over a year there. When you go to Petra, in the town there a bunch of local gift shops, it might seem sketchy at first, but you want to ask around for a ride to the back entrance of Petra. You get your ticket at the front, then go find someone to take you in the back way. You get an amazing hike, you’ll see views of Israel, and then you come around a corner and see Petra. It’s amazing and it saves you from walking all the way in, and then walking all the way back out.
Your list is good, but also go around Amman to eat. Petra felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie. Go during dusk for greater affect.
Spend a day or two in Amman for sure
Go to fakherldine for Lebanese cuisine in amman. It’s the best, pricey but worth it
Thank you for the tip! 😬
Of course! It’s a little known entrance, but it’s manned by Jordanians. The people who drive you to the back will most likely offer to hike with you as well and be a tour guide up until a certain point, it’s so worth it. Also check out things around madaba, you can hike into the canyons through water until you get to a little waterfall. It’s right across from the Dead Sea.
How did you move around? Going to Jordan tomorrow and not sure if I should get a car, hop on a multi day tour...? Any recommendations?
I would say anywhere from $250 to $450 is a good range!
Also shams al balad is cool on Friday or Thursday evenings
