We are shifting to a global talent model (think one framework, one tool and one way of assessing skills as opposed to separate by firm) and that means aligning the levels. Many countries have the senior manager and director levels and many countries have even more levels (e.g. executive director before partner). With this global framework all member firms will think about levels the same way and there will be a senior manager and director before partner. Total time to partner won’t change.
I have not heard that but I’d believe it.
That’s how EY is within EMEIA... basically SM is 1-3 and then Director would be SM4+
Yes, it's true. Was communicated in the Town Hall last week.
This for all service lines or just RA? They just booted a ton of the best senior managers because there is no room at partner currently. That move would piss off everyone who was in that boat... no future client conversions from those folks if that's the case.
Thanks! Did they give any more details?
I thought this was how it is already. Feeling confused.
That could actually be a good thing. It’s becoming extremely difficult to make director (I’m in RA so it’s the same thing as senior manager) and they are saying it’s 100% business case so if you don’t have impeccable billable you are out of luck. Having an extra level could make it more achievable to move up from manager while still building a book of business.
Also, that is common outside the US. Have a colleague on tour in Australia and they have both senior manager and director there.
Can confirm we have SM and Dir here in Australia.
