I went through this at Google. Do your research and know the band pay and the location as well. There are a lot of differences of opinion on this..such as your paying for my skill not where I live. I did my research, asked for top of the band and was offered the job . Ultimately didn’t take that offer as I was able to get significantly more from another employer which I took. Dont sell yourself short unless you are unemployed and need the work
I would ask them to share the salary range for the position, first.
I usually ask what the budget is for the role and then give them the higher end of the budget and see what they say.

What if they refuse to tell you the band? I've had that happen before where they insist you tell them your range.
bro u already a manager u should be comfortable w/ such questions. I think the advice that sometimes circulates to never give a number is childish. Just do your research for the role and combine it with your personal preferences and give a number.
yup do the legwork instead of throwing hands up and saying nothing. even if u say nothing you should still have an idea of what to expect. personally I prefer to give number first so it goes faster
Do your research on Google, glassdoor and come up with a higher end range. This will give you the market/company compensation idea as well as keeps you in the higher range for possible negotiation!
Google posts salary bands on most roles due to the CO law.
