Has anyone experienced or know someone that has received a bad / negative reference specifically from a Big 4 firm that resulted in them losing a job offer?

I was wondering if sometimes Big 4 Firms give out further information like what the employee was like whilst working, how did they get on with managers, anything they did wrong and performance reviews from managers you previously worked for if your new employer requests for this information?

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

Anyone wants to share how much it sucks to be on those state unemployment claims projects? I just left a Big 4 firm to Fund Accounting in hopes of better WLB, but now it’s looking like the hours will probably be even worse (60/70+ average weekly) throughout the year.
