Hello everyone! I am seriously considering a degree in social work (LCSW, BSW) and also interested in obtaining Masters degree but not sure which path to take with that. I have a strong desire to help women/young girls trauma survivors and their families. I’ve worked in the Nursing field as an ER Tech/Patient Care Tech for over 14 years and no longer have an interest in pursuing Nursing degree. I’m looking for full time job that would match my goals with social work and earn good pay.

In Texas, in order to make really good money you need to have the LCSW which is licensed clinical social worker or license master social worker advanced practice. With 13 years experience in social work I am making over 70k in dialysis. I believe straight after graduation with a master's starts out at approximately 55k in dialysis. Hospital social work pays pretty good as does going into administration.

Thank you!!! I live in Texas!! I have over 14 years of healthcare experience and most of it is working in the ER where I had the most exposure with mental health as well as when I formerly worked in a locked down psychiatric ER.

I have my BSW and my MSW in Clinical Social Work. I agree getting that LCSW is the door to better pay. I'm in Florida pursing my LCSW.

That’s great! Thanks for the feedback. I plan to obtain MSW LCSW

Just retired from K-12 education where I was making 105K. I’m a LCSW w a school endorsement. I’ve been in the field 42 years; in the schools for 30.

Additional Posts in Social Workers & Therapists

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

Hello, I’m an LMSW in Michigan. I have 15 years of experience in the field as a clinician, supervisor, and an administrator. I am feeling burnt out and unsure of my future. I have worked mainly in the Community Mental Health and the VA Health systems, hence my fatigue. I’ve flirted with private practice work in the past, but my spouse has been worried about not having affordable healthcare and benefits that each system provides. Is it worth the jump? Am I overthinking things?
