Recently was let go from the firm - if I start filing change of status to from h1b to b2 and later on find a new employer who is willing to sponsor, do I need to leave the country while the new h1b is in process?

Firm wants me to back pay last year FICA tax(Social Security and Medicare tax).
Last year I started working as F-1 and transition to H1b. Firm never withheld FICA tax.

Now they ask me to back pay last year FICA tax and then will send me W2c form.

The catch is I already file my tax without those FICA tax. Should I pay them and file tax amendment?

I'm a Canadian on the TN visa working in the US and planning on maxing my Roth IRA (6k) and will have enough left to max my 401k this year, but am not sure if I should just use a taxable account over 401k due to tax considerations when I move back to Canada (likely 1-2 years from now). Any thoughts here? I don't think I'll have enough RRSP room to move 401k>IRA>RRSP and I would prefer to not have to file US taxes every year in retirement for withdrawls if I left the 401k in the US.

I got H1B visa and 83K USD petition amount as annual package. Here I and my wife both are working and earning 50LPA together. My 7 yr old daughter and my wife will be on H4 Visa and she won't be able to work initially. I am confused whether I should opt for US or stay here only. Thoughts? Suggestions?
