Hi there. I did the reverse and I think it’s important to note that NGO work if I understand what you mean by voluntary, is not particularly stress free especially if you’re working at the top organisations. It’s long hours, quite a bit of travel and alot of leveraging some form of consulting skillset. BCG is hectic but there are boutique consultancies that don’t put you through as much. You’ll still do good work and earn reasonably. My suggestion would be to either consider that or going into industry. Either way, it’s almost guaranteed that your work load will reduce.
There are corporate gigs at big dumb FTSE companies that will give you that. Half of my corporate strategy team does nothing. As long as you have no ambition and avoid major projects...

Thanks so much for that. I've been on the road for the most part of 20 years so would be happy to ditch that. Noted re the top NGO's.
I defintely enjoy challenging, interesting work, and I'll always work hard -- but really don't give a hoot about status of organisation.
Just feel there is more to life than long hours and hoping to find a place where that will suffice!
Yet it feels so difficult sitting here -- working all the hours and unsure of the culture of any other place until I join! And recruitment processes take forever...
