Hello,

I live in Europe as a dual US/French citizen. My husband is French: he abandoned his green card but still has a social security number.

He has an opportunity for a remote project in the US. Will he have any trouble with a US company paying him as a freelancer registered in France?

Thanks for your help!

I believe the employer will make him fill out a w-8 form(s), not sure what else is involved. If you don’t have a US bank account for him to use, I’m sure the employer has processes to pay foreign bank accounts.

Hello,

It’s very likely that the company has processes in place already as they have extended the offer to your husband. There are many HR/ payroll third party resources that specialize in paying foreign based employees and often companies use those if they don’t have the internal resources. The onus will be on the HR/ payroll department to figure this out for your husband and provide him with the appropriate guidance.

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I’m devastated because he’s never expressed anything like this in the 8 years. He’s been super supportive and loving, even when we were in a long distance relationship. He supported my career and dreams and this just doesn’t make sense. We have gotten a counselor but things aren’t getting better. Comment>
