Hey Fishgang
I have an offer from EY which is a 30% hike from my PwC salary. Is it a good time to join EY considering the situation that the company is in with the split.

There is a never a good time to join EY but then there is always a right time to leave PwC :)

Found the Deloitte partner.

Get a sense of current availability/utilisation within the team. Figure out what skill they think you're bringing and current engagements they'd put you on if you were already there.

But 30% is 30%, if you think you'll be utilised I'd go for it for a year or two, can always move again in the future

Not at all, FT articles suggested there will be significant layoffs soon in EY after Project Everest fiasco.

likefunnysmart

@Director 2 The FT article mentioned two potential factors: first, footing the bill for the several hundred millions already spent in the split aborted process. Second, the memo shared with all the voting partners hinted already on costs cutting plans, now the potential for going IPO has been slashed: "(...) better preparing ourselves for a future transaction will require us to adapt our governance, operating model, cost structures..." .

I would not be rushing to join EY at this time, especially if you have a network and reputation at PwC.

like

I’d agree. In the current environment network, utilization and sales matter. What will be the point of a 30% increase if you don’t have a job 6 months down the line?

likesmart

I would ask whoever the hiring manager is about your first project here. There’s a deep bench everywhere. If you get hired in and sit on the bench for a while, it won’t be good.

likesmart

EY5 what practice you are in. Happy to help if you need help

The situation with the split will not change anything meaningfully for the employees. However, this economic situation is not ideal and switching jobs at this time has risks if you dont get staffed quickly.

I disagree with a lot of these comments especially bc you’re going into TC. In our all hands today we were clear we’re only hiring for jobs we have needs for. And as a former PwC person, the culture here is much better. What service line in TC will you be in?

like

That’s true, but it also seems that EY is targeting more recent (and expensive) hires for “performance based separations” at the moment. The risk for OP is if any projects fall through and (s)he is on the bench for awhile, it’s an easy leadership call to cut someone raising the salary band who doesn’t have a network.

Can you use this offer to leverage a raise at PwC? If so you should consider doing that. A quarter of my team in tech consulting has been on the bench for months.

like

Which service line? What will be your rank?

like

What sub service line in TC will it be?

There will be no split - EY called the split off shortly after it was announced!

Yes I'm aware of that and hence asking ..

like

If there will be any chnage, EY is becoming more like PwC. We are less performance driven than what you are used to. Take the salary bump, leave PwC in good terms and if needed you can go back or move to Deloitte.

Less performance driven - what are they driven by then?

How is SC and Ops?

If you’re joining EY tech consulting, you’re going to be on the bench for a LONG time 💀

Depending on the industry this isn’t true. We aren’t hiring for any positions where a large bench exists and that’s a fact. If you’re getting an offer, there’s a reason.

like

If you’re worried about culture just get PWC to match your offer

I'd join now. You aren't going to be in line for a pay bump or performance bonus, so you're not impacted by the short term noise.

If you're aligned to TC, you're going to do just fine. BC and other soft skill areas are different.

That is a horrible idea

3000 in layoffs. Don’t join now. Not a good time.

Not a good time. Good chance they will lay you off!

Happening in the US but could spill over anytime. The US always is the first. Please don't say I didn't warn you

Audit and tax (other than PAS) wont be affected... at least for now.

Right? @FinancialTimes

Hello Folks,
Can you pls advise on which company to go for.
R-Systems : They are providing WFH + clarity on the project and team for which I’ll be working upon.
CTS : No clarity as of now, only thing I am aware is that I’m a part of full stack community.
HCL : Some clarity on the project but less package than other two.
R-Systems and CTS are giving same CTC.
YOE ~8
Skill set : . Net full stack + Angular + Azure

This post is an alert message for anyone joining the Johnson & Johnson EMEA account for SAP & had Rakesh Sharma for their Manager round.

He is nothing less than a con man & will promise you a lot to make you join the account. After that he will put you in testing projects. If you ask for a release, he will either not release you or release with a very bad rating and influence other project managers to not take you into their projects.

You will be left with no choice other than leaving TCS.
