I have a bachelors in healthcare administration and a coding certification and I’m having the same problem as you I keep getting stuck in patient representative roles and I get rejections from coding and billing. Just keep applying and eventually something will come around.
I am applying and applying for an administration role as a RN w 15+ years experience but have not gotten picked.
Oschsner Hospital at 1514 Jefferson Highway is hiring for everything
I just got into the cath lab as a paramedic. I would recommend the two years of RCIS school it pays off and is in high demand. We get paid pretty well. Perfusion pays better but requires a ton of hefty prerequisites, basically the same as medical school prereqs. RCIS from Dallas college requires intro to ethics, A&p 1 and English comp 1(most of which you probably already have). It’s two years but I would say worth it.
I get what you mean, I just feel discouraged about going backward academically when I already worked hard for a bachelor’s. :(
Go to a community college and get your nursing degree. An associates is only two years and much cheaper then a 4 year university. I also got a bachelors in public health. I was unable to find a job. I went to nursing school and have been a RN for 20 years now.
Yeah, I have been thinking about going back to become a nurse but it has not been something I see myself doing in the long run.
Don’t go for Administration or Billing! I did and haven’t worked in that area at all because I kept being told “3yrs experience”, how do you get experience outside of school if no one will hire you??? Good Luck in whatever you choose!
The job market is really rough so I wouldn’t take it personally. I am not as familiar with the other careers you mentioned but with clinical research you would most likely need to go back to school which is a big investment. The careers you listed are pretty different from one another so I would recommend networking and talking to people who do those jobs and learn more about what they entail before deciding. Good luck!
Seek as admin position inside imaging areas. Hospitals have imaging dept and they also have administration there. So maybe something there. Or outpatient business offices particularly more in the radiology X-ray departments. Healthcare admin is a great avenue. Work about 8 hrs. Pays well and off weekends. 😬👍 best of luck 🤞 you got this 🧘🏻♀️
Paramedic 1 is correct, I went to school for nursing. I wish I would have gone back for my rad tech degree because they make a very good salary and it’s a great job. They now have traveling positions which pays well. I worked in Cath lab for 6 or 7 years and I really liked it. It’s never boring and a great group to work with.
I have a bachelors in health administration. I graduated in 2023. I’m a certified clinical medical assistant with certification as a phlebotomy EKG technician. I was having trouble finding employment being rejected so I went back to school to gain some type of medical experience. I’ve been applying as well and rejected. I’m overqualified with education and underqualified with experience. It’s very frustrating finding employment in Texas.
I am sorry to read this. How frustrating! Try to volunteer with the public health nurses in your area. You could offer presence for older members of community and/or help with the paperwork. It may seem like ‘ah duh’ with your major. I had time away from nirsing and ended up volunteering for the local volunteer firefighters. It helped me land a career where I stayed for 6 years!
