I will be joining IBM next week in Bangalore ( physical onboarding ) and my hometown is in West bengal , My father is having health problems , mother won't be able to handle everything and no such person we can rely on . Attending a company holiday party where they're doing a white elephant gift exchange. I barely know anyone except through emails and IMs given that most of us WFH. Fun but office appropriate gift ideas $30 or under?

What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

Have people been doing more or less work with personal projects since working from home? I feel like it’s been harder to keep motived to work on my side projects since starting a permanently remote position.
